Supreme Court rejected ECP request for delaying LB election

Pakistan News
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the request of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for allowing time up to March 2014 for the holding of Local Bodies elections, Geo News reported. ECP yesterday had submitted this petition praying for four months time for the holding of LB elections, as some legal, administrative issues including the problem
relating to printing of ballot papers were involved in the process which requires four months time and, therefore, suggested that the elections should be held in March 2014. However, the apex court raising some objections on the petition returned it saying that this matter was already disposed off on November 5 and thus the petition was not maintainable.
